Artist's Comments

EDIT: I should also mention that this tutorial is for people who already know how to use Photoshop, as I will not be explaining anything that has to do with layers or how to use the program itself. It should be fairly easy though; you just need to know where the brush/eraser tools are, and how to use layers. That's it!

Well, here you are! A tutorial on how I do my inking with some useful tips, tricks, and a small walkthrough.

Just click the "Download" button to view it.

It is a .gif image, 500kb in size, and the resolution is 750 x 6000 px. So please be patient while loading, though I hope it's worth it!

If you have any more questions that aren't answered in the tutorial, please don't hesitate to ask; I shall do my best to explain!

I also apologize in advance for any typos or grammatical errors! I hope you can see past them. =D

Please let me know what you think, whether it was helpful, and whether you made anything with this! I'd love to see what you have come up with, and how you've improved!

Comments would be more appreciated than faves! Though faves are okay too if you really want to leave them...

Made in Photoshop CS.

Aha! See, now I always followed the tutorials, but I could never get my lines to look straight and not all wobbly. So I really must thank you for putting that "draw with your arm" thing there, 'cause I never learned that. XD Very helpful tutorial. Much love to you.
:iconrheall:
Oh, I'm so glad it helped you out! Thanks for the love. =D

Wow, great tutorial. The lines looks perfect when finished. But I'm wonder, why don't you use the Shape Dynamics instead of erasing the lines, etc? I use that thing, and it works really well.

I've never liked using it; mostly because I don't know how to use it properly, and also because it gives me a great deal of satisfaction to sculpt each line I draw, even if it does take for-bloody-ever! I suppose it's just a preference thing. =) Besides, I like watching myself get better at this!

I'm glad you like it, and thank you very much! And for the record? Your line art is gorgeous.

Yeah, it's just a preference thing, I guess.

Thanks, you made me flattered. ^^

Yay! Someone else in the "draw with arm" camp. I bought a large (9x12) tablet just for that purpose, so I had a lot of surface area to cruise over with my arm :D

I never used to draw with my arm at all; I definitely don't draw with my arm on real paper, I always use my wrists. Only, when my sister bought me my tablet for my birthday, she thought it best to get me the biggest one she could find; 12x12. ^^; So, I had to kind of learn how to draw with my arm as I went... :XD: Still something I'm working on! I'm not as smooth or as accurate as I'd like to be yet!
